Marketing lessons from F.R.I.E.N.D.S
One of the favorite sitcoms amongst the people out there, F.R.I.E.N.D.S needs no introduction. The American show aired first on 22nd Sept 1994, received love from all over the world, and was way ahead in its time. Not just in the captivating storyline but also in teaching us valuable lessons about marketing!
Yes! We bring to you the four marketing lessons one can learn from the show, which we are sure you didn’t notice earlier in this way.Lesson Number 1- CONSISTENCY
It was a well-thought idea by the creators to name
each episode with “The One Where” or “The One With”, helping the viewers to
recall and resonate easily as to which episode the other person is referring to
in a conversation.
Consistency = Recognition
that’s the thumb rule! Our personal favorite is “The
one with the Embryos” which one is yours? Drop yours in the comment box.
Lesson Number 2- DON’T HESITATE TO EXPERIMENT
Diehard fans know that Chandler and Monica were meant
to be just a one-night thing but the response they received from the audience
was surprisingly so overwhelming that the makers decided to make them the power
couple of the series. The experiment is a key that can unlock doors to a
promising path. So, one should keep experimenting. One doesn’t know what might
work out for them.
Lesson Number 3- CONNECT WITH THE AUDIENCE
How many times have you found yourself doubting your
career choices? You can be in your struggling days or be in your office cabin
with a well-paying job the common thread that runs through both the cases is
the ‘SELF DOUBT’ factor which is inevitable!
All that one requires is a leap of faith that one day
it will all be worth it, and that’s what the lives of all the six friends
portrayed! Be it Joey struggling as an actor or Chandler hating his well-paying
job or even Ross who, despite being a genius medical marvel who got terminated
from the historical museum, all the scenarios portray the reality.
Remember, things with which the audience can relate
always sells themselves!
Lesson 4- KEEP THEM AT THE EDGE OF THE SEAT
To keep the thrill alive in the minds of the audiences
is what will fetch you the word-of-mouth publicity and ensures that the
audience always keeps looking forward to future developments. Be it the launch
news of a new iPhone design at an event or the movie trailers. All are done to
create excitement in the minds of the people.
That’s what the makers did! The streets would be
visible with large billboards with humorous teasers depicting what the next
season has stored for them, leaving no scope for the people to forget the past
storyline.
Well, we are sure that you would have been able to see from a new lens while going through the blog, isn’t it?
