Entrepreneurship Education: A Solution to the Unemployment Problem
Unemployment is a situation in which a
capable individual seeking job cannot find one. Lack of employment
opportunities, unfavorable working conditions, lack of skill-based education, are
few of the reasons that are causing unemployment. The unemployment rate in India is 8.3% at present, according to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
Entrepreneurship is all about an individual’s
tendency to take a risk and handle a business in a very dynamic and competitive
world. Education on Entrepreneurship will create awareness and motivate youth
to take business as a profession.
An entrepreneur is an individual who starts his/her own business based on an idea he/she has and bears most of the risk and reaps profit as a reward of his/her idea and business.
An entrepreneur needs to possess these qualities:
- He/
she must be a positive thinker
- Not
afraid to take risk
- Enthusiastic,
passionate, creative, self-discipline and persistent.
How Entrepreneurship Education can work as a solution to the unemployment problem?
1. Entrepreneurship Education triggers
students to think out of the box and bring up their eccentric talent and skill.
2. It enables students to find out the
opportunities, grab them and use them to produce something which leads to
economic growth.
3. Entrepreneurship Education develops the
skills which prepare the students to think creatively, take the risk, search
out the problem and solve it. And, whenever anyone solves the problem, they
create opportunities for themselves and also help the society and country by
creating jobs.
4. Entrepreneurship Education's basic aim is to
make a difference by solving the problem and meeting the needs of the people.
5. Entrepreneurship Education can make lionhearted
people which brings changes for the betterment.
6. Entrepreneurship
education encourages students to come up with their ideas and startups. Some
schools and colleges are also working with venture capitalists and Angel
investors to fund students’ startups. More startups create more employment
opportunities.
Conclusion
India’s education system focuses more on
theoretical concepts instead of practical concepts. They give importance to
grades, good scores and degrees. It teaches us how to be an employee instead of
teaching us how to create jobs. But, in real life, we need practical knowledge
and Entrepreneurship Education prepares youth in a way they can deal with
reality/real-life situations. It is very much needed to make students aware
that entrepreneurship is a good career opportunity which not only makes them
self-employed but also helps people in finding jobs which ultimately benefits
the economy and the growth.
